According to a state document from the Florida Department of State Division of Corporations Donald Trump and Kashyap Patel were removed as directors from the board of the former’s media company – Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) last month. This development happened weeks before the company received subpoenas from federal authorities.
As seen in a social media post from Donald Trump-owned Truth Social, Donald Trump is still a member of the board of Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG).
On the 27th of June, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) received a subpoena from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and another from a federal grand jury in the Southern District of New York on the 30th of the same month.
Recently, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) announced that it was merging with blank-check company Digital World in October. The deal is expected to close soon and has been subject to the investigations of the US SEC and other regulatory bodies such as the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
Donald Trump’s journey with Truth Social started after he was banned from major social media platforms including Twitter. His social media company, according to him will uphold the “truth” and allow for freedom of speech and expression, one of the things that Elon Musk plans to do once his $44 billion takeover bid of Twitter is completed.
In April, Donald Trump said he wasn’t going back to Twitter even if the company comes under the leadership of Elon Musk. “No, I won’t be going back on Twitter. I will be on Truth Social within the week. It’s on schedule. We have a lot of people signed up. I like Elon Musk. I like him a lot. He’s an excellent individual. We did a lot for Twitter when I was in the White House. I was disappointed by the way I was treated by Twitter. I won’t be going back on Twitter,” Donald Trump said.
