Mobile Network operator, Orange Spain stated that it has commercially deployed a fibre broadband service at symmetric (download and upload) speeds of 10 Gbps in five cities.

The operator at an event tagged: ‘Orange Network Fashion Week 2021’ held at its Pozuelo de Alarcon headquarters announced that the offer which uses XGS-PON technology will be available to both private consumers and businesses in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia and Zaragoza.

“The combination of the extraordinary capacity of XGSPON fiber together with WIFi 6 , which improves the stability, coverage and speed of the wireless experience, represents a true revolution in connectivity inside homes and businesses. A paradigm shift in internet access that extends abroad since, in these five cities, Orange also offers wide coverage with its 5G network, the fastest in Spain”, a  statement by Orange Spain reads.

With the use of the XGSPON technology, devices will be connected to maximum speed to perform the listed activities below simultaneously:

  • 4K video streaming on various televisions.
  • Movies and series download at maximum speed
  • Telecommuting
  • File downloads in a flash
  • Corporate tools access
  • Online games, download of games, minimum lagging and delay in online games, cloud games
  • Highest quality Video calls

The new technology also opens the door to future applications like virtual reality, holograms and so on that may require such exciting capacity.

The new 10 Gbps Fiber will be available for only an additional 10 euros/month over the usual price, with the Love Total Plus and Love Total Plus 4 rates for customers who are residential, and with Love Empresa 3 and 5 for freelancers and small businesses.

The XGSPON technology has the capacity of 10 Gbps symmetrical total speed, and according to global tech standards, about 2Gbps, a sizeable chunk of that speed will be used for its own service operation, with other customers allowed to reach approximately 8 Gbps speeds for both upstream and downstream.

The XGSPON fibre and WIFI 6 indoors combination with 5G outdoors is a very important step in the digitization of the Spanish community, further opening opportunities for the development of new technological use in homes and companies.

Orange, while demonstrating the extraordinary capabilities of the new technology carried out speed tests at its Pozuelo de Alarcón headquarters, in the purview of its Orange Network Fashion Week” event framework, where it showed annually information on news that is applicable to allow its clients, residential and companies, take full advantage of the capabilities provided by its most advanced connectivity services.
