Starlink Rwanda

Incorporating an entity or expanding an entity’s operation outside its homegrown country hovers around massive paperwork to abide by the books and observe regulatory policies to which Starlink has committed its resources to penetrate Africa.

The American satellite mobile network provider has acquired its telecom license from the Rwandan Space Agency (RSA) to operate its Low Earth Orbital (LEO) satellite in the country, Techbooky Africa reports.

Starlink’s constellation of LEO by Starlink will correspond with the Rwandan National Broadband Policy & Strategy accreditation that supports the telecom company to innovate its telecom marketplace with high-end broadband connectivity.

The RSA policy requires the American satellite mobile network provider to sell its high-end network service at an economical rate suitable for the Rwandan population.

Starlink has reportedly gained the license to penetrate East Africa with Rwanda as its starting point which denotes that the satellite mobile network provider will commence operation before Q1 2023 elapses.

Although the satellite mobile network provider has been scheming on how to penetrate the Rwandan marketplace and other significant commercial zones in the continent to sell high-end satellite broadband technology.

The RSA CEO, Francis Ngabo, confirmed SpaceX has entered Rwanda to work closely with the inland space agency via Starlink LEO satellite broadband connection which will accelerate its technology innovation and likewise accelerate development in underserved Rwandan communities.

“This aligns with our mission to leverage space capabilities for national development by contributing to the overall target of establishing international connectivity redundancy and near-universal broadband coverage,” Ngabo said.

Meanwhile, after Ngabo confirmed the development via a press announcement, he continued to show enthusiasm to welcome Starlink in Rwanda via a shared tweet on SpaceX’s social media.

“This is another milestone in our journey to leverage space capabilities for national development. #Satcoms will aid to achieve #Rwanda’s digital inclusion targets,” the tweet reads.

In Africa, Rwanda is the second African market to welcome Starlink’s satellite mobile network service while Nigeria is the first African country to license a satellite broadband network.

SpaceX’s telecom subsidiary intends to penetrate the continent via significant market operations having flirted with regulators based in Malawi, Kenya, and Mozambique.

Starlink was more enthusiastic to debut its LEO satellite mobile network service in Nigeria likewise the Rwandan marketplace.

SpaceX subsidiary telecom company reported it’s coming to Africa in 2022 and the Nigerian telecom marketplace has always been the Apple of its eye, followed by Kenya, Mozambique, and Rwanda was the fourth country to make Starlink’s list.

Rwanda is the second country to license its LEO satellite mobile network service by Starlink.

“We are confident that the high speed and reliability of the service will benefit both citizens and businesses. We look forward to the positive impact it will have on the country’s competitiveness in the global digital economy,” the Rwandan Minister of information and Communications Technology and Innovation, Paula Inagbire shared comment on licensing Starlink services.
