Last year was a big chance for every adaptation of technologies for construction. However, the coronavirus pandemic had a significant impact on speeding up technology adaptation in structure in 2020.

As the coronavirus vaccination continues this 2021, we all hope that this year everything will somewhat get back to the new normal.

The construction industry means preparing to recover from the economy and getting through the pandemic when it comes to the construction industry. Construction will have greater demand when we recover from the pandemic.

Here are our top 3 most extraordinary construction technology innovations for 2021

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence or AI is like Building Information Modeling. It is a technology that can be in conjunction with another kind of technology. For example, sensors, BIM, laser scanners, and wearables can be mixed with the AI to collect information that it will use to create and learn decisions.

Artificial Intelligence will focus on the specific technology that will enable machines and computers to mimic the intelligence of a human being.

For example, a subset of AI known as machine learning uses an algorithm to identify patterns, learn from information, and create decisions. It won’t require to be programmed, and it has one of the most significant positive impacts on the construction industry.

A construction project will create several pieces of information that are excellent for any AI because this information gathered throughout the years will be utilized. It can predict the future of specific projects, and it can upgrade the learning of the machines.

It can also mitigate risk, improve productivity and aid any schedule. One way to unleash the full potential of artificial intelligence is to find a way to gather, arrange and structure all the generated information.

Applying AI in the construction industry is now used to identify missing PPE or safety hazards and monitor the workers on site. It will also then alert the safety manager or worker to correct the threat before it creates accidents. AI is also one of the elements to improve autonomous and self-operating construction equipment.

In terms of scheduling and planning construction projects, AI is best known in this field. It can simulate the project a million times within just a minute. Moreover, it can create certain adjustments to create the proper schedule for workers to maximize productivity and efficiency. For this reason, you can save money and time.

Wearables

The construction wearable tech is implanted in a worker’s apparel and protective equipment or PPE-for instance, the gloves, hard hats, work boots, and safety vests. In addition, the wearables in construction are being equipped with environmental sensors and biometrics.

It also includes location trackers and GPS, voltage detectors, Wi-Fi, and many more sensors to monitor any movement, posture, repetitive motions, slips, and falls of a worker. In addition, any wearable that comes with biometrics can track the body temperature, heart rate, and any other vital signs.

It can also notify the safety managers if a particular worker is overheating or is over-exhausted. Safety is one of the essential things in a construction site. If you can track and monitor workers, you are making a great way to ensure all of your workers are safe in your company.

Drones and Robots
Using robots and drones in doing construction tasks will have an extraordinary impact on productivity and safety. In the future, the robots created for construction will be utilized to complete repetitive, simple, and labor-intensive jobs-for instance, tying rebar, laying bricks, and even installing drywalls.

However, the construction industry will still need the help of humans. Most of the construction robots being developed are not intended to replace humans but are created to help them. It can help them by making them more productive and making them safe on site.

The drones for construction can help firms and owners survey the site and inspect the building making the area much safer. Drones are easily used to make a quick Jobsite inspection, identify the potential hazard, and monitor the developments in the projects.

Bottom Line

The pandemic helped the construction industry create construction technology to a new level. As a result, there is a lot more technology that inventors have completed recently. For instance, they have also developed speed bumps that can regenerate kinetic energy into electricity for the streets.

There is so much more helpful technology that has been developed during the pandemic. This technology wouldn’t be possible for years if there were no pandemics. The pandemic also had positive impacts on some industries.
