According to reports making rounds online, Apple is reportedly warming up for the release of a couple of new Macs later in the year. Interestingly the new Macs to be debuted by the company will be a 13-inch MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, 24-inch iMac, and a redesigned MacBook Air, all with an M2 chip.
Although the company is yet to released hints on the new releases and its potentials but reports from Bloomberg suggest that the new releases will be accompanied with slight differences and similarities from the M1 chips. Firstly Bloomberg suggests that the potential M2 chip will be slightly faster than the M1 counterparts while sharing the same eight-core architecture. Graphics cores for M2 should be expected to make a jump from seven or eight to nine or 10. Predictions are that by 2023, Apple may likely announce the release of Pro and Max versions of M2 chip or maybe M3 chip.
In November 2020, Apple announced the release of M1, a couple of month passed and it’s M1 Pro and M1 Max counterparts were debuted. As Apple continues to make move that sets it’s on different pedestal to Intel silicon, quite a number of Macs are in the works that cements this mark and shoving Intel-powered devices out of its lineup. According to reports, the release of a larger iMac Pro with M1 Pro and M1 Max chip options that sets replacements for its current 27-inch iMac Pro are expected, along with a smaller Mac Pro that comes “with the equivalent of either two or four M1 Max chips.” While the Mac Mini already debuted with a M1 chip, an upgrade to M1 Pro option is expected (in addition to an M2 variation).
Still based on reports here and there online, Apple may likely release these new Mac devices in March, or in May or June. Apple rumored March 8th event is also likely to witness releases of a 5G iPhone SE, 5G iPad Air, and potentially one new Mac, iOS 15.4 (that features a face mask-friendly Face ID). Also loaded for later in the year 2022 and beyond would be an iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8.
