Apple’s Festival Place store in Basingstoke will close permanently after trading on Saturday, 21 November 2026. The date is the new part of the story. Apple had already confirmed in August that the shop would shut sometime in November, but had not given customers a final day. MacRumors reported the confirmed date on Tuesday.
The closure ends a 15-year run for the Basingstoke location, which opened in 2011. For people who use it to collect orders, try devices or visit the Genius Bar, the change is practical rather than symbolic. Apple’s Festival Place store page still lists its address and current opening hours, so customers should check that page before making a trip during the final weeks.
Apple The Oracle in Reading will become the closest Apple-run alternative, roughly 18 miles away. Apple said in August that it was moving the Reading shop into a larger space and expected the redesigned location to open in December. That creates a possible gap between Festival Place’s final day and the new Reading store’s opening. Customers with urgent in-person needs should check Apple’s current UK store list and appointment availability rather than assume the Reading site is ready immediately.
The refurbished Reading store is expected to include a dedicated collection area for online orders and a redesigned Genius Bar. Apple previously said Festival Place employees would have the opportunity to work at The Oracle or another Apple location. The company has not publicly attributed the Basingstoke closure to a particular cause, so it would be misleading to present it as evidence of weak local sales or a broader retreat from UK retail.
For buyers, Apple’s website and app remain alternatives for ordering devices, while authorised resellers and service providers can handle some needs locally. Those options do not fully replace a nearby Apple Store for hands-on demonstrations or face-to-face support. The nearest-store question will matter more to Basingstoke customers than the number of shops on Apple’s national list.
The timing also falls just after a busy autumn product cycle. TechBooky has covered the new M6 MacBook Pro, whose availability begins this week. Anyone planning to see a new Mac or collect an order at Festival Place should take note of the 21 November deadline and verify collection options for orders placed near it.
This is a local consolidation, not a newly announced closure of Apple’s entire UK retail network. The company gave notice of the plan months ago. What customers now have is a firm final date and a clearer reason to plan their next visit.
