PayPal, a payments giant, has announced that it is adding 100 data scientist positions to its Dublin branch. The opening of a new AI and fraud data science centre is associated with the expansion.

PayPal stated that it is working to transform its Dublin location from a customer service hub to an innovation hub.

AI engineering, data science, software development, risk modelling, and cybersecurity are just a few of the fields that will be covered by the new positions.

The jobs will help with things like improving customer experiences and preventing losses.

“The talent and innovation coming from Ireland will play a critical role as we shape the next generation of digital payments,” stated Aaron J. Webster, PayPal’s global chief risk officer.

Webster also said that the expansion reflects both our confidence in the local ecosystem and our ambition to build an AI-driven, data-powered future that embeds trust and safety in every transaction.

The government is supporting PayPal’s job expansion through IDA Ireland.

“I would like to commend PayPal for its ongoing partnership with IDA Ireland, and the creation of 100 highly skilled jobs in cutting-edge fields like AI and data science reinforces our status as a global hub for innovation,” stated Peter Burke, Minister of Enterprise, Tourism, and Employment.

Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland, praised the employment news. And said that he is thrilled with PayPal’s decision to create up to 100 new highly skilled tech jobs in Ireland. This demonstrates Ireland’s continued allure as a site for valuable investments. We are pleased to back this expansion and anticipate PayPal’s further success in Ireland.

PayPal laid off 290 employees from its Irish business last year.

The firm announced the closing of its Dundalk office and 62 layoffs in Dublin and Dundalk in March 2023.

The remaining Dundalk employees were transferred to remote work.

These are the open positions that can be found here, for those wishing to explore opportunities in the Data Science and AI field.
