Here’s Why Voice Robots Needed During A Pandemic

The voice search market witnessed a compounded 17.1% growth in 2020. The growth is partly attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic. The rise of voice robots can ironically be described as one of the silver linings of the pandemic.

The pandemic has brought about the need for social distance and avoiding contact. Voice and smart robots are stepping into the gap to help people to perform daily chores without exposing themselves to the risks posed by the disease. Here are some of the reasons voice robots are needed during the pandemic and how they have solved the challenges arising from the health crisis.

Avoid contact

Medical experts stated that one of the ways to pass the coronavirus was through contact. A lot of the household and public service gadgets required people to touchpads or press buttons. It means that such people were exposed to the danger of contracting or spreading the virus.

Voice robots make it possible to accomplish the same roles without having to touch. In a household environment, a person could change the TV channel without touching the remote. In public, individuals could identify themselves without touching access systems or verification systems. The simple voice robot technology helped to tame the spread of the disease in households and public institutions.

It is convenient

The pandemic has raised alert levels everywhere. The masses are cautious of contact and any means through which they can contract the disease. Institutions and businesses were grappling with the challenge of serving the same people who are too cautious about their health yet still want services.

Voice search robots came in handy. They could issue tickets and give directions instead of using actual people. The robots presented a lower risk of contracting or spreading the disease, creating a safe environment for workers and clients. Voice search technology made it easier and faster for businesses to resume work after the pandemic.

Businesses were moving towards voice searches

Businesses are moving towards voice search technology in digital marketing. As customers look for contactless transactions businesses have to adapt to these habits. A lot of people are increasingly searching by voice instead of typing queries using the keyboard. The pandemic brought to the fore the need for this technology.

The products with better voice integration became best sellers. Once customers discover the convenience of such search options, they do not return to typing queries. The pandemic has, therefore, highlighted this technology and its convenience when looking for products online.

People were sedentary

The covid-19 pandemic locked many of the people indoors. It resulted in an involuntary sedentary lifestyle. Ordinary people who were used to moving around now spent more time sited on desks and sofas. The chances of waking up to pick a remote or phone to order food became scarce. Voice search replaces the need to make physical searches.

Save time

Voice robots save time for individuals and institutions. Individuals ordering food or searching online will only need to speak to obtain search results. A voice search is faster than typing an entire phrase on the keyboard.

The speed and accuracy of voice searches have also improved. When integrated with access or ticketing systems at public utilities or businesses, it saves the people and the business time. The convenience and speed of service will result in more people returning to your store. It is this convenience and reduced service time that is pushing more people to use voice searches instead of traditional typing. The trend is not expected to change even after the pandemic has died down.

Entertainment and companionship

The reasons for using voice searches keep changing. As the pandemic locked down people in homes, loneliness struck. The voice robots became their solace and source of companionship.

Owners would engage voice speakers, just to test their capability. They would search the weirdest items online, not to buy but to test how well the speakers were working. The technology, albeit not as intended, helped a lot of people to cope with the loneliness brought about by the pandemic.

The benefits of voice robots during the pandemic cannot be overemphasized. The pandemic played the indirect role of increasing uptake and pushing developers to sharpen their skills. Voice robots will thank the pandemic for mainstreaming their usage.
