Although the exact sales figures remained undisclosed in the announcement, the release of this information coincides with the expected dissemination of the month’s retail gaming sales statistics by NPD Group. Despite this surge in sales, historical monthly sales records show that the Xbox One has generally lagged behind its key competitor, Sony’s PlayStation 4, save for in December.
