Apple announced on Wednesday that the iPad will now be covered by its Self Service Repair program, increasing the number of devices that users can fix with authentic Apple parts and equipment. The iPad Air, iPad Pro, iPad Mini, and a few additional devices have been added to the program as part of this change. Through the initiative, iPad owners will be able to fix their devices at home. Tools, rental toolkits, Apple Diagnostics troubleshooting sessions, repair manuals, and authentic Apple parts are all available to them, says the business, and this is if necessary.

iPad Air (M2 and later) 2024, iPad Pro (M4) 2024, iPad mini (A17 Pro) 2024, and iPad (A16) 2025 owners can begin ordering repair kits and parts, such as screens, batteries, cameras, and external charging ports, on Thursday.

“At Apple, we strive to make the best products in the world that last as long as possible,” stated Brian Naumann, Apple’s vice president of AppleCare, in a press statement. With today’s announcement, we’re thrilled to offer our repair services to more clients, allowing them to prolong the life of their goods even further without sacrificing privacy, security, or safety.

Self Service Repair was introduced in 2022 and gives customers access to the same repair manuals used by Apple Authorized Service Providers and Apple Store locations, enabling them to do repairs at home if they feel comfortable doing so.

The company claims that this gives them the ability to independently fix Apple products, particularly those that are no longer covered by warranty.

Apple announced that Canada would soon become the 34th country where Apple offers Self Service Repair, adding that the program already covers 65 Apple devices, including the recently released iPhone 16e, MacBook Air, and Mac Studio.

Additionally, Apple provided additional information about its Genuine supplies Distributor program, which enables independent mobile repair specialists to place orders for authentic Apple components and service supplies. Authorized third-party distributors, including MobileSentrix in the United States and MobileSentrix and Mobileparts.shop in Europe, offer these parts. Displays, batteries, and charging ports are just a few of the Apple parts that Genuine Parts Distributor has available for iPhone repairs. iPad parts will be available tomorrow.

Apple recommends that users consult the repair manual before beginning any repairs. Through the Apple Self Service Repair Online Store, they can obtain authentic parts and tools. However, only people with technical expertise and experience in electronic device maintenance are meant to utilize the application. For safe repairs, those who don’t fit this description are encouraged to see a qualified professional repair company.

The repair program now supports 65 products following expansion. This also includes the MacBook Air (2025), the newly released iPhone 16e, and the Mac Studio with the M4 Max CPU. Customers will be able to purchase parts and tools at the same prices as independent repair companies that have received Apple repair certification. After a repair is finished, consumers will also be able to return their old components to Apple in order to get a discount on their subsequent purchases.

The iPhone manufacturer is also extending the reach of its Self Service Repair Program to additional areas; beginning this summer, Canada will be the 34th nation to offer it.
