Bluesky Seemed To Be Down For Some Time Today

Earlier today, some users reported problems with the social networking platform, suggesting that Bluesky seems to be offline. Thousands of customers worldwide have been unable to access Bluesky due to a major partial outage.

In the early hours of the day, Bluesky, sometimes seen as an alternative to Elon Musk’s X, did not operate normally. Around 6:30 a.m. ET, Downdetector saw a thousand-strong rise in reported problems with the app and website. (Disclosure: Ziff Davis is the owner of both DownDetector and Mashable.)

Bluesky acknowledged the problem on its service status page at 6:42 a.m., stating that it was “investigating an incident” and confirming that “some systems were down.”

“We are starting to see some early recovery, but many users and services are still impacted,” a message states.

Some members of the press have contacted Bluesky for more information; however, as of this writing, Mashable is unable to view the site fully (we can only see the Bluesky butterfly logo).

Although we’re still having loading problems, Bluesky seems to be operational again on the site and in the app.

As of 2:28 p.m. UTC, Bluesky has largely recovered from an issue that prevented Home and Explore feeds from loading, causing blank screens for many users, though some may still experience residual delays.

Bluesky attributed the outage to an upstream service provider issue that began in the U.S. East region and spread globally, underscoring ongoing infrastructure growing pains as the platform scales.
