Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram revealed his social platform has changed its purpose from a Square photo-sharing app to a broader version of entertainment and clipped video productions. This announcement was shared via Adam’s Instagram account, as well as his Twitter account — his perspective was centered on rivalry towards the success TikTok and YouTube have gained overtime.
According to Adam’s announcement, he detailed the new Instagram will appear in full-screen mode — note that these updates are still developing whereby it is expected to show recommendations for trendy topics. This will also include content outside users’ choice of interests. “Changes are coming to video on Instagram,” he tweeted.
Aside from Facebook, Adam disclosed that his company has reportedly modified its algorithms with in-depth documented feeds accordingly with the users’ interests. “Right now we’re focused on four key areas: Creators, Video, Shopping, and Messaging,” Instagram aims to attain a broader social experience.
Instagram has maintained its social status as the top-notch internet network, serving its users with a unique experience. Still, this update appears to be the first to feature on Instagram — a similar feature such as IGTV with full-screen mode sharing amazing experiences that also featured as Stories and Reels.
According to Instagram’s Head, this new user experience will change Instagram’s status quo, whereby it will no longer be regarded as a “square photo-sharing app,” — in line with the nature in which it debuted. Although this new feature is expected to inspire new users, still, this feature remains vague to users’ comprehension.
TechBooky suggests Instagram is getting a Facebookytype of tweak to compete with rivals like YouTube and TikTok. Adam noted that this feature will be powered by the algorithm Instagram had modified. Remember, the Square photo-sharing app once hinted about this feature months ago in February — at the time, a new layout for viewing Stories was introduced exclusively for web users.
Still, Instagram has received iterated features on its sub-platform, such as Stories, Reel, and IGTV that allows users to share videos — the duration for sharing content via these features is programmed to last longer than 30 seconds.
