  • The relaunch indicated the company’s intention to become a cloud-native, digital-first telecom company that places a greater emphasis on innovation and customer experience.

T2 Mobile, formerly known as 9mobile, even though the rebranded name T2 is yet to be stick to the tongues of its customers and the Nigerians at large, has partnered with Knot Solutions of India to modernise its core operations and business processes in an effort to reclaim its position in Nigeria’s very competitive telecom sector.

T2’s four-stage revive plan known to be stabilization, modernisation, transformation, and growth has been centred upon the multi-million dollar cooperation agreement, which was revealed Wednesday at the Gitex Nigeria conference in Lagos. According to executives, the plan aims to refocus the operator with which now has less than three million subscribers as Nigeria’s “Digital Lifestyle Partner.”

With the strategic change which was made less than a month after T2 formally changed its name from 9mobile on August 8, 2025, at its Tech Meets Tenacity event in Lagos. The relaunch indicated the company’s intention to become a cloud-native, digital-first telecom company that places a greater emphasis on innovation and customer experience.

The collaboration with Knot Solutions expands upon an earlier multi-million dollar agreement to improve T2’s core network infrastructure with Huawei. As part of the dual agreement, Knot Solutions will update the digital backbone that enables analytics, customer engagement, and billing, while Huawei will focus on enhancing coverage, speeding up data, boosting and improving service reliability.

Obafemi Banigbe, CEO of T2, stated, “This is not just a system upgrade.” “It’s a customer-first revolution that changes how people engage with their digital world in a way that is easy, quick, and convenient for them.”

T2 will be able to implement hyper-personalized data and lifestyle bundles, roll out real-time billing, and create self-service apps that provide users greater control thanks to the new technology. Additionally, analytics and automation will provide the business with a comprehensive picture of its clientele, facilitating more rapid service resolution and customised offerings.

Sumanth Konuru, CEO of Knot Solutions, explained the transaction as a component of a larger change in the telecom market in Africa. “The main driver of that change is the modernisation of BSS and OSS platforms,” he stated. “T2 is gaining the ability to transition from traditional, inflexible service models into a dynamic, hyper-individualized ecosystem with our flagship cloud-native platform, RaptrDXPTM.”

The agreements are more than just technological advancements for T2. Moving far beyond its beginnings as a voice and data provider, the firm is attempting to recast itself as a platform that offers financial services, entertainment, education, cloud tools, and smart lifestyle offerings.

Back-to-back transactions, according to the company, also indicate an improvement of investor trust and confidence in Nigeria’s digital economy during a period of ongoing difficulties in the general business environment.

Thomas Etuh, the chairman of T2, has mobilised investors behind what he describes as a “long-term belief in Nigeria’s growth trajectory,” placing a wager that the need for digital services that are quicker, smarter, and easier to use would only increase.

Banigbe presented the idea as a component of a broader national initiative. He stated, “We’re building an ecosystem where connectivity is the key to unlocking a world of possibilities from commerce and financial empowerment to entertainment and education.”

This is more than simply a technology wager, according to analysts. It is an investment in Nigeria’s people, talent, and the limitless potential of its digital economy. It proves that T2 is here to take the lead, be creative, and make a significant contribution to the advancement of the country.
