Eden Life has secured $1.4 million in seed funding. The Nigerian housekeeping and hospitality company secured this funding in a round led by a United Kingdom-based venture capital company — LocalGlobe. However, other firms participated in the funding round. They include Village Global, Rising Tide Africa, Future Africa and Enza Capital.

Eden Life is a new Nigerian company founded by Nadayar Enegesi, Prosper Otemuyiwa and Silm Momoh in 2019. The firm offers food, laundry and cleaning services, enabling customers to request their services via mobile applications.

The company’s headquarters is located in Lagos and has over $600,000 raised by friends and family in pre-seed funding. The company wants to be the “Concierge of Comfort” and seeks to enhance the quality of life for customers in the city.

As at when the startup began to provide its services, it had only 61 customers. In just two years, this figure has significantly increased to 600. In Lagos State alone, the company has offered more than 60,000 services to its clients.

Speaking at the funding round, Remus Brett, general partner at LocalGlobe said that they were attracted to the firm because of their dedication and loyal attitude towards customers.

“LocalGlobe became attracted to Eden Life because of the company’s system of providing home services in Africa. The combination of this advantage with a core team who has proven experience building African tech to unrivalled levels sets Eden Life on an exciting path of growth,” he said.

It is important to note that most Nigerians assume that the definition of house helps means they need to have an underaged child helping them carrying out home chores. Unfortunately, there have been reported cases of some Nigerians abusing such kids over the years.

Eden Life is seeking to change the status quo through engaging well-trained individuals who operate on a smooth schedule.

Eden Life is heavily involved in providing food services. The company has a kitchen where custom meals are prepared. This is to ensure that its customers get quality food whenever they wish.

Its laundry services are run by well-experienced laundromats. In terms of housekeeping, the startup has a wide range of freelancers that they train quarterly.

On the fund raised by the startup, it plans to acquire its own technology, discover new talents and develop new food production systems. The company also plans to roll out more horizontal products in subsequent months.

However, the Chief Executive Officer of the startup, Nadayar Enegesi has disclosed that the company does not have plans to grow outside Lagos because they have to perfect operations in the State before making new moves.

“Lagos is a tough market, and we have to make sure everything works,” Enegesi said. “We’ve had to keep fine-tuning and our focus right now is like making this thing very smooth here. After that, we’ll start having conversations about where do we expand next,” he said.
