Earlier this week, several popular apps experienced downtime due to issues with Cloudflare, including X (formerly Twitter). Although Cloudflare has since disclosed the root cause and services have been largely restored, X is now facing a new global outage which this happens to be its third reported disruption this week.

Almost 5,000 users of the social media platform X, which was previously known as Twitter, have reported issues with both the app on android, iOS and website. The global outage has been reported around the world, with 63% of users reporting issues with the app.

Another 26% of those reporting the problem indicated they were having difficulty with the website, and 11% with the feed.

On Friday, November 21, at 3.17pm, 4,841 individuals reported an issue with the site.

Users of X continue to report problems on Downdetector, albeit at a considerably slower rate.

There were 164 outages reported on the site as of 5.11pm this evening.

Although X did not immediately publish an official comment, the platform’s AI bot, Grok, verified the downtime.

Grok, X’s AI bot, has responded to site users’ questions about the downtime.

The outage reports in the United States have reached 20,355, with users reporting the problem to Downdetector.

Users around the world are encountering glitches, indicating that thousands are facing outages or issues loading their feeds on X.

However, many people are testing the waters by commenting on the platform, “Is X down…? My X is heavily glitching; did you notice this post?”

Downdetector reports that thousands of users have experienced outages on the social media platform since around 3.20pm this afternoon.

On Tuesday of this week, a separate outage rendered millions of X users unable to access the platform for approximately an hour, with error messages displaying across both Android and iOS apps.

Earlier this week, another smaller disruption was reported.

A huge outage in Amazon’s AWS cloud service in October caused global disruption, affecting Amazon’s own services as well as apps like Reddit, Roblox, and Snapchat.

A CrowdStrike software update in July of last year triggered widespread Microsoft system disruptions, impacting aviation, healthcare, shipping, and banking.

A recent thread on Downdetector suggests that X is gradually recovering.

Users who are still having problems are encouraged to try again later, since the situation is usually resolved within an hour.
