WhatsApp Tests QR Channel & Sticker Pack Sharing

Some features that WhatsApp is testing include cross-device contact synchronization, sticker pack sharing, and an image lookup function.

According to reports, WhatsApp is developing a new method that enables you to see and join channels on the app by scanning QR codes. The next feature, which is still in development, will make it simpler for consumers to discover and follow new channels.

Since its launch on the messaging app last year, WhatsApp Channels have advanced significantly, and the Meta-owned service is constantly adding new features. Using a rapid response (QR) code within the app, users can now easily share, read, and follow channels using WhatsApp Channels’ newest feature, which is now in beta testing. The functionality may now be tested on the latest iterations of WhatsApp beta for iOS and Android, and it will probably soon be made available to all users.

Users may watch and join the channel if it piques their interest by using the phone’s camera to scan the QR code, as shown in the image below.

WABetaInfo, a feature tracker, noticed the new QR code sharing capability in the most recent iterations of WhatsApp for iOS and Android. The new functionality may be available to beta testers who have updated to the WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.24.10.76 or WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.25.7.

The feature tracker states that users who have enabled the feature on WhatsApp will be able to open their Channel information panel and choose the sharing options, where the option to create a QR code will be displayed. To access this feature, you must be using the most recent beta version of the app and manage an existing WhatsApp Channel.

Users will be able to share the QR code they produce with another user on WhatsApp or other messaging applications. Since the QR code is shared as an image, it may also be printed, emailed, or communicated through third-party apps. Businesses who wish to give their consumers a simple method to follow their channel may find this useful.

When WhatsApp will allow users on the stable update channel to share QR codes is presently unknown. Other helpful features that the business is testing for the app include cross-device contact management, the ability to share complete sticker packs, and a ‘Search on the web’ picture lookup capability. After enough testing as part of the beta program, users should be able to access these functionalities.

Users must go to the channel, hit the three vertical dots button in the upper right corner, and then select the share option in order to access the QR code for that channel. The ability to create and show the QR code that serves as a shortcut to the channel is located here.

When the person you like to join is in front of you, the new technique is more convenient than the old-fashioned way of sharing a channel, which entails copying and pasting a URL in the conversation.

This may be even more helpful for business owners because they can print the QR code on flyers, posters, and business cards, among other materials. You might have to wait a long time until the capability is accessible on your device, though, as is the case with most things that are still in beta. It is yet unknown when the functionality will be rolled out on the stable channel.

And it is interesting to know that WhatsApp has been introducing a number of new features in recent weeks, such as the option to transcribe voice conversations and, most recently, the ability to add personalized notes when sending text, photos, or links.
