WhatsApp users globally should soon have access to the same music catalogue that Instagram users do. WhatsApp’s new music function, like Instagram’s, allows users to select songs of their choice for their status. This introduction also will allow users to share music alongside photographs and videos this new feature and status updates might be introduced in the coming as it is undergoing testing phase.
WhatsApp is purportedly developing a new feature, which is likely to be released to users soon. Meta-owned app users may soon be allowed to include music in their Status updates on the platform. This functionality is presently being tested with select beta users on both Android and iOS platforms. Another Meta-owned program, Instagram, a video and photo-sharing social networking site, now allows users to contribute music to their Stories, which are similar to WhatsApp Status updates.
According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, the platform is developing a feature for Android users that would allow them to add music to status updates. It is presently available to WhatsApp beta testers who have installed the Android 2.25.2.5 update, and it may eventually be made available to all Android users. The function intends to make status updates more entertaining and interactive, akin to Instagram’s music story sharing feature.
WABetaInfo also says that the WhatsApp beta for iOS 25.1.10.73 version has the same capability for iOS users. After installing the most recent testing version, select WhatsApp iOS beta program participants will have access to this feature.
The current update includes a music icon in the status update area. By touching this button, users can find their favourite songs, artists, or trending music.
In the WhatsApp Status update option, both Android and iOS users will see a new music button next to the drawing, text, and other editing options. They can use this option to search for music or artists and then choose one.
After picking a song, WhatsApp users can choose which piece of the track to use. For photo-based status updates, the music clip can run up to 15 seconds, while for video statuses, the duration of the music clip is governed by the length of videos. For video status updates, the music duration will correspond to the length of the selected clip.
The introduction of music into WhatsApp Status updates is meant to boost viewer engagement and make the update more lively. According to one of the aforementioned rumours, details about the integrated song will appear alongside the shared photo or video, similar to how they do on Instagram.
The new feature is part of a cooperation between Meta and Universal Music Group and is consistent with WhatsApp’s overall efforts to improve user interaction.
The collaboration enables WhatsApp users to explore a music database and select tracks directly for status updates. The feature is likely to be available to all users soon after undergoing testing with beta users on Android and iOS.
WhatsApp’s integration of music with status updates provides a fun way to personalize posts and set the tone for photographs or videos uploaded. Viewers can navigate to the artist’s Instagram page by tapping the song listed in the status.
Viewers of the WhatsApp Status update will also be able to interact with the artist’s Instagram page whose song was featured. As a result, it is projected to boost musical artist discovery and interaction via WhatsApp.
Beta testers can download WhatsApp beta version 2.25.2.5 for Android from the Google Play Store, while WhatsApp beta version 25.1.10.73 for iOS is available through the TestFlight app.
This new feature adds to the app’s recent improvements to the status area, which include an overhauled interface and new reaction options. Users may expect additional interactive capabilities to enhance their WhatsApp experience in future upgrades.
Previously, WhatsApp introduced four new features to make interactions with friends and loved ones more interesting and entertaining.
In a blog post, the firm announced the addition of camera effects, selfie stickers, faster reactions, and sticker pack sharing to simplify and improve the messaging experience.
“With this update, users will have access to 30 backgrounds, filters, and effects for photos or videos captured within chats,” according to the blog post. These choices allow users to add artistic flourishes to their material, which improves the entire message experience.
