Apple has opened the public beta cycle for its next major software releases, giving early testers access to iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, watchOS 27 and other platform updates before the final versions arrive later this year.
Apple’s own Beta Software Program page now lists iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, tvOS 27, watchOS 27, HomePod Software 27 and AirPods firmware as part of the public testing path.
The headline feature is Siri AI, Apple’s long-delayed attempt to turn Siri from a basic command assistant into a more modern AI assistant that can handle natural conversations, follow-up questions, screen-aware requests and multi-step actions inside apps. Apple Intelligence-capable devices get the most important features, although some access may still depend on availability and language support.
TechBooky has been tracking this shift closely, from Apple’s big Siri AI overhaul at WWDC 2026 to voice pace and emotion controls in the iOS 27 beta and the broader Apple Intelligence upgrade. The public beta moves those ideas beyond developers and into the hands of regular users willing to test unfinished software.
Beyond Siri, Apple is promising performance improvements across the system, including faster app launches, quicker photo availability after capture and faster AirDrop transfers. Photos gets stronger editing tools, including Spatial Reframing, an improved Clean Up tool and Image Playground upgrades.
Safari adds smarter tab organisation and a Notify Me feature for monitoring webpages, while Passwords can detect weak credentials and help update them. Shortcuts also gets more natural-language automation, which could make Apple’s automation tools easier for everyday users.
iOS 27 also adjusts Liquid Glass, Apple’s controversial design language from last year’s update. The new beta includes readability improvements and a slider that lets users customise the effect, which suggests Apple listened to complaints that the interface sometimes looked better in demos than in daily use.
On watchOS 27, Siri AI comes to the wrist, the Dynamic App Grid tries to surface relevant apps more intelligently and Workout Buddy gets new upgrades. macOS 27 Golden Gate brings Siri into Spotlight-style workflows and adds design refinements across the Mac interface.
Install Carefully
Public beta does not mean finished software. Bugs, battery drain, app incompatibility and performance surprises are all possible, especially on primary devices used for work, banking or travel. The safest approach is to install on a secondary device or wait for a later public beta if stability matters more than early access.
For Apple, the broader test is whether users see Siri AI as the beginning of a real comeback for its assistant strategy. The company has waited longer than rivals to ship a more capable assistant. Now that public testers can try it, Apple will learn quickly whether the experience feels like a genuine leap or another cautious step.
