Globacom, Nigeria telecom company and giant, has revealed plans to expand by growing and upgrading its network throughout Nigeria in order to improve customer service and experience. For the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to approve a 50% end-user pricing adjustment for telecom services, this is one of the requirements.

The actions are taken as the company underlines its dedication to provide increased coverage and excellent network quality, especially in light of recent tariff revisions that regulatory bodies have authorized.

Globacom said in a statement earlier today, Tuesday that the company has been striving to guarantee that customers around the country get the best value for their money in all sense as far as the network is concerned.

In order to provide consumers with the best-in-class services, we made the costly decision to move the fibers, many of which had been vandalized in many locations by haphazard road building activities, according to the statement.

A key element of this upgrade is the deliberate placement of additional base stations, which will densify existing areas with expanding populations in addition to providing service to previously underserved areas. The goal of this densification initiative is to ensure nationwide high-quality network service for both voice and data.

The expensive transfer of the company’s fiber infrastructure in a number of crucial areas where road development has negatively affected network connectivity is one of the major projects it has emphasized. Major routes including Auchi-Okene, Benin-Ekpoma, Lafia-Akwanga, Minna-Abuja, and Funtua-Gusau are among the impacted locations.

With several hundred more sites soon to be completed countrywide, the company said the ongoing exercises portend better futures for Glo consumers.

The network has already set up thousands of 4G LTE sites in strategic towns and places this year alone, and hundreds more are being rolled out to increase capacity even further. In addition, there has been a smooth, well-thought-out expansion of the core network and a significant increase in backhaul capacity, which includes both fiber and microwave infrastructure.

Globacom promised clients faster data speeds and better network performance, stating that these coordinated efforts will result in improved service delivery, superior network quality, and extended coverage.

In order to expand its dependable data reach, the firm plans to install more than a thousand additional sites in the upcoming year, with an emphasis on integrating more LTE stations.

In addition, Globacom is giving fibre extension to many of its hub locations first priority in an effort to improve service delivery and dependability.

The telco is also concentrating on reducing its carbon emissions as part of its efforts to be environmentally sustainable.

“This entails a substantial investment in itself, a growing expansion of hybrid power solutions, and a shift in reliance from generators to battery power across its sites nationwide.”

Despite these developments and advancement, Globacom stated that intentional network equipment sabotage remains a threat, even though telecom architecture is classified as important national infrastructure. The business emphasized the necessity of taking more forceful measures to stop these kinds of situations.

Globacom also wants to lower carbon emissions from its operations by increasing hybrid power and relying more on battery power rather than generators at its facilities nationwide. The statement adds, “This has a high investment cost as well.”
