WhatsApp recently revealed its plans to develop Private Processing, a secure cloud technology solution for AI features. Not told if this will be in the present or in the near future. However, Meta plans to launch these new AI features as part of its Meta AI initiative. The purpose of these features is to improve WhatsApp’s efficiency and usability.
A feature tracker has already identified the first feature that potentially makes use of the privacy-focused feature. Additionally, a new tool that enables users to create AI-powered chat backgrounds is also in the works for the messaging platform. WhatsApp has started testing a feature that allows users to add suggestions to status posts on iOS and Android, but these capabilities are still being developed.
WABetaInfo, a feature tracker, found two new AI-powered capabilities in the latest Android WhatsApp beta versions. After receiving a string of messages in a chat, users can catch up on a conversation with the aid of the message summarization tool, which is presently in development. The message summarization function can assist users in catching up by providing a summary of conversations they missed over a period of time. Although it was seen on the Android 2.25.15.12 WhatsApp beta, beta testers are not yet able to test it out.
As a result, a new “Summarise with Meta AI” button will appear in the chat window after a user has received a specific quantity of messages. The user can view a summary of all talks by clicking this button, which will create a summary of the message they received.
According to WABetaInfo, users will see a Summary or review with Meta AI button above the most recent unread message. The feature will send a request to Meta’s servers, which will use the company’s recently announced Private Processing technology to handle these messages. According to the feature tracker, end-to-end encryption is not compromised by this procedure.
An artificial intelligence (AI) wallpaper generator that makes use of Meta AI is the second feature under development. According to the blogger’s screenshot, WhatsApp’s Wallpaper section now has a new “Create with AI” option that allows users to write instructions to make graphics and set them as their conversation wallpaper.
Users can use this to create prompts to generate graphics and set them as their chat wallpaper by using the new Create with AI option in the Wallpaper section of the WhatsApp settings. WhatsApp users will also be able to edit or tweak their prompts to produce additional wallpaper choices.
The AI-powered wallpaper production feature is anticipated to function similarly to the messaging platform’s existing functionality that lets users create graphics in chats by responding to prompts. According to reports, WhatsApp will also let users edit or tweak its prompts to produce more choices.
Beta testers can now test out a new feature that is being made available to users on new releases, even if the AI-powered wallpaper creation and message summarization functions are still under development. Following the release of WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.15.13 and WhatsApp for iOS 25.14.77 (stable), some users will be able to access customized prompts for status updates.
Other Meta apps, like Facebook and Instagram, currently include prompts that let users add interactive and engaging stickers with buttons that invite users to post similar status updates. For instance, a user can make a collage of their best images from March and share it with their followers along with a prompt that allows them to click the “Add Yours” button.
