Discord is now available as a native app on Meta Quest headsets, giving VR users a more seamless way to connect with their communities without relying on workarounds.

The rollout follows Meta’s announcement at last year’s Meta Connect conference that a dedicated Discord app was in development. Until now, people who wanted Discord inside VR had to depend on sideloading or other improvised methods to bring the platform into their headset experience.

The Meta Quest version of Discord offers access to the same core features users expect on desktop and mobile. That includes:

  • Servers and channels
  • Direct messages (DMs)
  • Voice and other calls

Beyond mirroring the traditional app’s capabilities, Discord on Meta Quest adds VR-focused enhancements. The app can automatically use the headset’s built-in microphone for calls, removing the need for extra configuration or external mics.

Users can also keep the Discord interface pinned within their VR play space while they are in a game, making it easier to follow chats or stay in a call without constantly switching contexts.

The native app is designed to tie more directly into the Meta Quest environment. It supports streaming gameplay directly from the headset to Discord, allowing users to share what they’re seeing in VR with friends and communities on the platform.

In addition, people will be able to join Discord calls using their Meta avatar. For those who have already invested time in customising their VR persona, this gives an extra layer of continuity between their Meta Quest identity and their presence in Discord conversations.
