AI applications, both real and false, are flooding the Google Play Store. The ChatGPT app now leads the field, but competition is on the horizon. Grok, xAI’s AI chatbot, is almost ready to release an Android app for consumers and the first 1,000 people who pre-registered will gain access to a beta version of the Grok Android app.
Additionally, people have also seen the app for the same in the Google Play Store. All users may currently pre-register for the app. Additionally, it was disclosed that a small group of users (first 1,000 users) as mentioned earlier will be given access to the application’s beta version for testing. The precise release date of the Grok app’s stable version is currently unknown.
Grok’s stand-alone iOS app was released worldwide last month, and the Android version is also available. Additionally, an xAI developer on X.com has confirmed the existence of the Grok app for Android. In addition to Saudi Arabia and the Philippines, customers living in India, Canada, and Australia may download the Grok app. The first 1,000 users to install the program were granted access.
The native artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot from xAI, Grok, will soon be accessible to Android users as a stand-alone app. The software was discovered to be available on Google Play on Tuesday. Users can pre-register for the app when it eventually becomes available, even if it is currently not accessible for download and installation. Notably, some users were given temporary access to a beta version of the program to test. The app’s debut date has not been disclosed by Elon Musk’s AI company.
The Android App for Grok which is already available on Google Play features the xAI that seems to be preparing to release an Android version of the AI chatbot, just one month after Grok’s iOS app was released. On Tuesday, staff of Gadgets 360 saw the app on Google Play. In a tweet on X (previously Twitter), an xAI engineer also verified the Android app.
The software created by xAI was momentarily accessible for download in Saudi Arabia, Australia, Canada, India, and the Philippines. The first 1,000 people to download the app were granted access. According to the corporation, the early access was made available for testing. With the option to pre-register and auto-download, the remaining users will see “coming soon” in the app’s description.
A “coming soon” notice will now appear in the application’s description for all other users. Indeed, everyone who pre-registered for the app will be able to experience its formal debut as it will download and install on their smartphone immediately. The nice thing about the app is that users may use it without logging in with their X account. However, they might want to watch out for signing in if they want a customized experience.
According to Grok’s Play Store app listing page, users may download the app for free and utilize its features without logging in. But users who want a more customized experience and would rather link the AI to their X account may also log in. Notably, logging in is required to view the chatbot’s online version.
Features like text answers, image creation, and real-time data from X will be included in the standalone app. It’s unclear if online search-based inquiries will also be supported by the app. The Grok 2 AI model, the same extensive language model that powers the free and premium versions on the internet, will power the app.
Interestingly, Grok’s iOS app also let users log in with their Apple IDs. Whether the Android app will allow users to register using their Google accounts is unknown.
Among the Grok app’s primary features are:
- Access to real-time data via web data and X integration
- The ability to rewrite and summarize text
- Functionality for addressing questions
- Creating images from text prompts
Users may anticipate constant upgrades and enhancements to Grok’s functionality and performance as it develops further. Before a wider launch, xAI may improve the Android app based on user input thanks to the restricted beta release.
If you live in one of the approved countries and would like to try Grok on Android, you should go straight to the Google Play Store. Elon Musk’s goal of a more open and competent AI may become more widely available as the beta program grows and more users get access to this AI-powered assistant.
