Nintendo raised its sales forecast for the Switch 2 to 19 million units for the fiscal year ending March 2026, up from the previous estimate of 15 million.

The upgrade follows impressive momentum since the console’s June launch, with Nintendo reporting sales of over 10 million units by the end of September.

The company also boosted its full-year operating profit forecast to ¥370 billion (≈ $2.45 billion), representing a 16 % increase.

The strong hardware performance is being driven by hit software titles such as Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, which have helped ignite demand for the new console.

At the same time, Nintendo acknowledged its operating profit margin shrank to 13.2 % in the first half compared with 23.2 % a year earlier, underscoring that rapid hardware growth often comes with cost and margin pressure.

With the holiday season ahead and more major game launches in the pipeline, Nintendo’s upgraded outlook signals confidence that the Switch 2 can sustain its early burst of momentum. But maintaining that momentum amid competition, chip supply challenges and consumer expectations remains the next test.
