Nvidia CEO Reaffirms Commitment to OpenAI Amid Rumours

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has publicly dismissed rumours suggesting dissatisfaction with OpenAI and reaffirmed the company’s intention to make a significant investment in the AI research firm. Speaking from Taipei, Huang labeled reports of his unhappiness with OpenAI as “nonsense.”

In September, Nvidia announced plans to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI, the developer behind the popular AI tool ChatGPT. However, recent speculation had cast doubt on whether this investment would move forward.

When pressed on the specifics of the investment amount, Huang clarified, “No, nothing like that,” in response to suggestions that Nvidia might exceed the initially stated figure. He reinforced, however, that Nvidia is committed to making a “huge investment” in OpenAI, describing it as “probably the largest investment we’ve ever made.”

Huang expressed strong support for OpenAI’s work, calling the company “one of the most consequential of our time,” and highlighted his collaborative relationship with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. He noted that Altman is “closing the round (of investment) and we will absolutely be involved.”

This statement helps quash doubts about the future of the Nvidia-OpenAI partnership, which is seen as a pivotal collaboration in the artificial intelligence sector. Nvidia’s financial backing, combined with its hardware expertise, continues to be a critical enabler for OpenAI’s ambitious AI research and deployment plans.

As the AI landscape rapidly evolves, the partnership between Nvidia and OpenAI remains a key driver in advancing AI capabilities, with Nvidia pledging substantial support to further OpenAI’s mission.
