It’s been years since the highly-anticipated Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight, but if Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg were to go head-to-head, I’d be glued to the screen. And I’m not alone in this sentiment, given the immense attention the idea of a clash between these two tech billionaires is receiving on social media.

The Origin
The sparks started to fly when Elon Musk responded to a report about Meta’s Twitter competitor, quoting Meta’s chief product officer, Chris Cox, who mentioned creators and public figures seeking a “sanely run” platform. Someone cautioned Cox about Mark Zuckerberg’s jiu-jitsu skills, to which Musk responded, “I’m up for a cage match if he is.” Zuckerberg then shared the exchange on his Instagram story with the note, “Send Me Location.”

The Training
While Zuckerberg has been training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu for about a year, showcasing his progress in various documented efforts and even participating in a tournament, Musk claimed to have a special move called “The Walrus,” involving lying on top of his opponent and doing nothing. To add to the spectacle, Musk proposed the UFC Octagon in Las Vegas as the venue for their battle.

Undercard Matches
As the main event, Musk vs. Zuckerberg steals the spotlight, but we suggest a few intriguing undercard matches. Satya Nadella vs. Sundar Pichai would be a fascinating clash, especially considering Bing’s newfound relevance due to its AI chatbot. Additionally, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel and Instagram head Adam Mosseri could bring their mobile-first rivalry into the octagon. To capitalize on the platforms’ monetization endeavours, the event could be streamed as pay-to-view live streams on Twitter Blue and Meta Verified.

While the likelihood of these imaginary fights ever taking place is slim, the anticipation and excitement surrounding the potential clash between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are undeniable. The social media sphere is buzzing with speculation and enthusiasm, demonstrating the immense interest in seeing these tech giants face off. Whether or not this epic showdown becomes a reality, the imaginative discussions it has sparked highlight the engaging nature of the tech industry and the intrigue it generates among its followers.
