WhatsApp Will Stop Working on These Devices Starting Nov 1

As the year 2021 gradually comes to an end shortly, popular instant messaging platform Whatsapp discloses plans to end support for a cycle of android and iOS devices. WhatsApp feels the need to constantly add many tools and updates in other to ultimately improve user experience.

WhatsApp and its sister applications Instagram and Facebook recently suffered a high-profile worldwide outage will stop working on some models of phones devices going forward. In general, users using Android devices running on Android 4.0.3 or lower, iOS users running on iOS 9 or lower have cause to worry. The main reason for this stoppage is that the instant messaging service requires more powerful devices for its operation. For this reason, starting November 1, 2021, which is in a few days’ time, the instant messaging service WhatsApp will no longer be compatible with a wide variety of Android devices and their iPhone counterparts. 

It’s advisable that users get a device upgrade as soon as possible in other to stay within the platform. Whatsapp says it’s a different issue when compatibility with Android updates if you haven’t done it. Such users need to go to their settings, choose “About Phone” to be sure what versions their Android devices are running on, if the update option is available, such users are advised to hit the update button to continue to enjoy the instant messaging service. For iOS users, WhatsApp will work on iOS 10 and above, be sure your iOS falls within to continue to enjoy the service. JioPhone users have been advised not to worry, reports have clarified that support will continue for it.

Whatsapp has provided a list of smartphones that would no longer receive support starting November 1.

Samsung – Galaxy Trend Light, Galaxy Trend II, Galaxy S II, Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy Excover2, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Ace 2

Huawei – Huawei Ascend G740, Huawei Ascent Made, Huawei Ascend de Quad XL, Huawei Ascend T1 Quad XL, Huawei Ascend P1S, Huawei Ascend D2

LG – LG Lucid2, LG Optimus F7, LG Optimus F6, LG Optimus F5, LG Optimus F3, LG Optimus L7, LG Optimus L5, LG Optimus L7 II Dual, LG Optimus L5 Dual, LG Optimus L4 II Dual, LG Optimus L3 II Dual, LG Optimus Nitro HD, LG Optimus 4X HD, LG Optimus F3Q, LG Best L5 II, LG Best L3 II, LG Best L7 II, LG Best L4 II, LG Best L2 II

Sony – Sony Xperia Miro, Sony Xperia Neo L, Sony Xperia Arc S.
