Galaxy S26 Gets AirDrop-Like Sharing via Google Quick Share

Apple’s AirDrop-style sharing is coming to more Android hardware, and Samsung’s latest flagships are next in line. Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S26 series will support sharing with Apple devices through Google’s Quick Share feature.

The change builds on Google’s earlier work to make Quick Share a cross-platform bridge between Android and Apple ecosystems, bringing iPhone-style proximity sharing to more Android phones.

Google first rolled out the current version of Quick Share on its Pixel 10 phones last year. In February, the company outlined plans to expand the feature to more devices, and Samsung is now following through on that roadmap with its 2026 flagship line.

Quick Share on supported Android phones lets users send and receive photos and files from an Apple device in a way that mirrors AirDrop between two Apple users. Once enabled, a Galaxy S26 owner can exchange media directly with an iPhone user over the same local-sharing workflow rather than falling back to messaging apps or cloud links.

There is one important setting on the Android side: to receive media from an iPhone, users need to switch their visibility to “everyone for 10 minutes.” That temporary window makes the device discoverable so an Apple user can initiate a transfer, after which visibility returns to a more private state.

Samsung says AirDrop compatibility via Quick Share will begin rolling out to Galaxy S26 devices in Korea starting March 23. After that, the company expects the update to reach additional markets including North America, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan and Latin America.

Samsung also notes that more Android devices beyond the Galaxy S26 series are expected to gain this AirDrop interoperability, aligning with Google’s stated plans to broaden Quick Share support. However, Samsung has not provided specific models or timing beyond indicating that additional devices “should” be able to get compatibility in the future.

For now, Galaxy S26 owners in Korea will be the first Samsung users to try the Apple-compatible version of Quick Share, with a wider regional rollout to follow.
