Globacom, a telecom provider majorly in Africa, has introduced a subscription plan designed to provide customers with financial assistance for phone repairs. This launch is in relation to the device protection service for mobile phone users that offers reasonably priced coverage against water and screen damage in collaboration with Cubecover, a technology startup.

The program is the first of its type in Nigeria and enables both new and existing Glo members to protect their gadgets with premiums as low as N50 per day. It was announced via an email message on Thursday.

The telecommunications company announced in a statement that it has partnered with Cubecover, a technology solutions enabler, to offer phone repair services up to N50,000.

Globacom’s Head of Value Added Services, Mr. Mojeed Aluko, stated that, depending on the extent of the damage, subscribers are eligible for free screen replacements or repairs up to N50,000. However, the protection doesn’t start until a consumer keeps their subscription current for 30 days in a row.

According to the statement, “For a small premium, new and existing Glo subscribers will be able to protect their mobile devices against screen and water damage through the Device Protection service, which is an industry first in Nigeria. When damage occurs, they will receive up to N50,000 worth of screen repairs or replacements.”

For as little as N50 per day, users can guarantee that their gadget is protected against screen or water damage at any moment, according to Mojeed Aluko, the company’s Head of Value Added Service (VAS).

He listed additional subscription choices, such as  low as N50 daily,  a N300 subscription plan for customers who would rather pay the premium on a weekly basis and an N600 subscription plan for customers who would rather pay the premium on a monthly basis. These are meaningful protection that helps them stay connected even when accidents happen. Aluko further states.

Subscribers who purchase this reasonably priced micro-protection will be eligible for free screen repairs up to N50,000 in the event that damage arises.

He went on to say that the device protection won’t start until the consumer has had their subscription activated for a month.

“As an innovative and responsive network, we are taking advantage of this opportunity to offer our customers meaningful protection, enabling them to remain connected even in the event of unintentional damage,” he said.

He mentioned that interested clients might sign up by selecting a daily, weekly, or monthly subscription package and dialling *7013*1# to enrol via USSD. New clients can enroll for the package right away, buy a SIM card and device, and stroll into any Gloworld location.

The option available to the consumer which can be to choose between a one-time subscription and auto-renewal, and they pay for the device protection subscription by deducting it from their Glo airtime.

The subscriber gets a link to check the integrity of their device’s screen after making a successful payment. The device’s IMEI is registered with Cubecover when the screen passes the diagnostic test,” he stated.

“The strategic partnership with Globacom will reduce common anxieties associated with phone usage, accidental damage, and repairs,” said Deji Macaulay, managing director of Cubecover.

According to Deji Macaulay, managing director of Cubecover, the collaboration will help consumers who are worried about the high expense of phone repairs.

The straightforward enrollment procedure, reasonably priced micro-premiums, and quick verification technologies make this service special. For millions of Nigerians, it provides genuine peace of mind,” he remarked.

Globacom defined the solution as a technologically enabled innovation that aims to improve device longevity, facilitate smooth connectivity for consumers, and lessen the financial burden of unplanned phone damage.
