Ray-Ban Display Smart Glasses Debut With Meta Neural Band

At Meta’s Connect event yesterday the company revealed their latest creation the Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses that come with an actual screen you can see, and a wristband that reads your mind. Well, not exactly your mind, but close enough to make you feel like you’re living in the future.

For $799, you can now own a pair of glasses that look completely normal from the outside but pack more technology than most laptops.

They come with something called the Meta Neural Band, a wristband that can detect the tiniest movements of your fingers and translate them into commands for your glasses.

The Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses aren’t your typical smart glasses that just take pictures or play music. These actually have a small screen built right into the lens that can show you information without blocking your view of the real world. Think of it like having a tiny computer monitor floating just at the edge of your vision.

What can you see on this tiny screen?  everything you’d want to glance at quickly. Text messages pop up so you can read them without pulling out your phone. If someone sends you a photo, you can preview it right there in your glasses. Need directions while walking? The glasses can show you a map with turn-by-turn instructions. Having trouble understanding someone speaking a foreign language? The glasses can translate what they’re saying and display the translation for you to read.

The really impressive part is how natural it all feels. Instead of interrupting your day to check your phone, you just glance slightly to the side and see what you need to know. It’s like having a personal assistant whispering important updates in your ear, except instead of hearing them, you see them.

Meta has been working on this technology for four years, testing it with nearly 200,000 people to make sure it works for everyone. That’s important because everyone’s muscles are different, and what works for one person might not work for another.

Unlike a lot of new technology that doesn’t solve real problems, these glasses address some everyday situations we all face such as following GPS directions on your phone, With these glasses, the directions appear right in your field of view, so you can keep your head up and eyes on where you’re going.

The glasses also work great for people who need to stay connected for work but don’t want to be constantly pulling out their phones. You can quickly check if that notification is from your boss or just another social media update, and respond accordingly.

International availability is planned for early 2026, starting with Canada, France, Italy, and the UK. Meta is clearly taking a measured approach, wanting to perfect the customer experience in one market before expanding globally.

If Meta can prove that people will actually use and enjoy this technology in their daily lives, it could open the door for even more advanced versions in the future.

The Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses and Neural Band represent a significant step forward in wearable technology. Whether they’ll change how we interact with digital information remains to be seen, but they’re certainly the most compelling smart glasses anyone has produced so far.
