Yesterday marked the launch of BitTorrent’s newest creation, the BitTorrent Live, an ingenious platform that transforms the way we perceive live and linear video streaming. Offering a wide range of channels that span from News and Sports to Music, Tech, and Youth programming, BitTorrent Live is set to conquer new frontiers in the world of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV).
While many IPTV providers have leaned towards offering video on demand services, BitTorrent Live breaks the mold by aggregating a myriad of programs, thus providing an innovative platform for live streaming running on internet protocols. The initiative begins first on Apple TV, and there are subsequent plans for expansion to iOS, Android, and Windows.
BitTorrent Live elevates the possibilities of live streaming with its exceptional sub-10-second latency, a feature made possible by BitTorrent’s proprietary and patented peer-to-peer live streaming protocol. This ingenious tech novelty eradicates the need for costly Content Delivery Network (CDN) or pre-provisioning while ensuring that large audiences can view live videos seamlessly.
Upon launching, BitTorrent Live will offer a free tier of linear channels, featuring live events on networks such as AWE, a 24/7 network showcasing the highs and lows of accumulating wealth; Clubbing TV, a media partner to some of the world’s most renowned electro festivals; and FAST&FUN, a Television Channel that immerses you in the thrilling world of extreme sports.
The app will also host content from Fightbox, a one-stop station for combat sports enthusiasts, and Filmbox Arthouse, dedicated to showcasing the creative movements in the global film industry and specials featuring legendary filmmakers.
Audiences in search of breaking news and expert opinions can tune into Newsmax, while NUsicTV provides a platform for new independent music artists. OANN will offer keen insights into political analysis and talk shows. And, if you’re a sports enthusiast, One World Sports broadcasts live and same-day action of various top-tier sports competitions.
There’s something for everyone, and every viewer will eventually contribute to the content. The hundreds of millions of people currently using the BitTorrent peer-to-peer (P2P) services primarily for downloads will soon also be “uploaders”. In effect, what we’re seeing is BitTorrent’s strategic endeavor to reposition these users as broadcasters in their own right.
Not one to shy away from the constant evolving landscape of technology, BitTorrent added a genius whisperer feature to its P2P chat service last year, which more or less mimics what Snapchat does. Messages are deleted from devices 25 seconds after they are read.

Start now by submitting your email to receive their newsletter on the BitTorrent Live website to stay informed of its imminent launch. This advancement in streaming, delivered by BitTorrent, is a concrete step towards the future of internet protocols. Are you ready for it?
