A document created using Canvas in ChatGPT can be downloaded as a Word, PDF, or Markdown file.
A number of improvements have been made to OpenAI’s ChatGPT platform, including new features for its Projects and Canvas tools. With the most recent upgrade, users may now download content in a variety of file formats straight from Canvas, and Project’s features have been extended to include voice interactions, sophisticated research tools, and greater mobile flexibility.
Last week, OpenAI expanded ChatGPT’s Canvas and Projects features. Users can now download the content of a Canvas in a variety of file formats from the San Francisco-based artificial intelligence (AI) company. Users will also be able to export code they write in Canvas in the appropriate file type. The business is also extending its Projects feature, which now includes voice mode, deep research, and other features. Furthermore, users of the iOS and Android ChatGPT mobile app will at last be able to submit files and modify the AI model while working on a project.
Several new features added to ChatGPT, according to the official OpenAI handle stated on X (previously Twitter) that users can now download anything created in ChatGPT’s Canvas which is the upgrade which also adds long-desired functionality. In October 2024, Canvas was first made available as a preview. In December 2024, it was made available to all users. Users can make inline modifications, formatting, and other changes to text and code using this sandbox-style pop-up window inside the chatbot.
Users will be able to download created text as Markdown (.md), Microsoft Word (.docx), and PDF file formats thanks to this new capability. Users can also export the file in the appropriate format when coding, such as.py for Python,.js for JavaScript, and.sql for Structured Query Language (SQL). Notably, Canvas is accessible to all users via the desktop, mobile, and ChatGPT websites. It also provides a direct export in language-specific formats like Python (.py), JavaScript (.js), and SQL (.sql) is now feasible for developers who use Canvas to write code.
Users may keep a consistent workflow on every device thanks to the Canvas feature, which is available on all ChatGPT platforms, including the website, desktop clients, and mobile apps.
The company is also extending its capabilities in Project, a tool that lets users establish chat folders where the AI keeps track of uploaded data, rules, and the context of past talks. Interestingly, Projects is presently only accessible to platform customers who have paid for access.
The business revealed the upcoming features for Projects in a different post. Users will now be able to create queries for in-depth, multi-step research using public web sources, and it will support deep research. For a hands-free experience, projects will also support ChatGPT’s speech mode.
In addition, users will be able to share the conversation folder with others by creating a unique URL for it. In order to guarantee that the responses are appropriate for the situation, ChatGPT in Projects can additionally utilize the enhanced memory feature and refer to previous conversations within a project. Additionally, users will be able to drag a chat into the project folder or use the sidebar menu to convert any chat into a project.
Simultaneously, OpenAI revealed significant enhancements to the Projects tool, which is only available to ChatGPT’s premium users. Users can retain contextual information, such as uploaded files, prior discussions, and customized instructions, and organize interactions using Projects. Its scope is greatly expanded with the latest upgrade.
Most significantly, “deep research” capabilities are now supported by Projects. This enhances the AI’s effectiveness in activities requiring more than surface-level knowledge by enabling users to formulate intricate, multi-step research questions using real-time data from open web sources. Furthermore, ChatGPT’s voice mode integration offers a hands-free experience, simplifying user interaction with the assistant while on the go.
On mobile devices, more advancements are also being made. Previously exclusive to the desktop experience, users of the ChatGPT app on iOS and Android may now submit files and switch between AI models immediately within a project.
These enhancements reflect OpenAI’s ongoing efforts to make ChatGPT a more flexible productivity tool that can be used by professionals and non-professionals who depend on AI for jobs like research, development, and content production.
Lastly, while working on a project, users of the ChatGPT mobile app can now upload files and switch between AI models. Users must have the most recent version of the app, though, in order to utilize this feature.
