Twitter Spaces Feature Is Now Available To Everyone

In November 2020, Twitter rolled out Spaces, a Clubhouse-lookalike audio chat room. However. Twitter limited the ability to host a chat room on Space to users with at least 600 followers. With almost a year gone since Space surfaced, Twitter is finally giving all users the privilege to host a Space. Some say this privilege is one the microblogging website should unarguably consider granting since the inception of the idea of spaces.

Also considering the fact that Twitter promised that users would be able to host conversations on Space back in April, let’s just agree that the social platform has delivered its promise based on its own schedule. The change was announced via a tweet by the Spaces team, informing users will henceforth be able to host Spaces on both Android and iOS. The Spaces team also offered a GIF that briefly explains on how to go about hosting on Spaces.

Twitter has really excited the majority of its user the entire year, with the release of new features for Spaces, like the ability to add co-hosts and up to 10 speakers. Twitter also announced Spaces Accelerator Program called the Twitter Spaces Spark Program to reward Spaces creators and even ticketed Spaces, a feature within Spaces that require users to make payment before entering into audio rooms and now gives users the ability to host their own rooms is certainly noble and fantastic.

With Twitter lifting all restrictions on hosting privileges for both android and iOS users, we can agree the micro-blogging site has taken a chance to get users interested in utilizing the Spaces feature. With the new feature, chances are that Spaces will grow as Twitter remains a highly recognized social app that boasts a huge number of users. Recall earlier in the year, Clubhouse made some adjustments too, by coming out of the invite-only state and making the app available to android users. The big question remains, will Twitter’s new Spaces privileges hasten Clubhouse’s demise, or will it end up like the Stories-like Fleets?
