YouTube has declared that it will be taking out its now trending list and trending page over the next few weeks.

YouTube said Thursday that it is switching to category-specific charts from its Trending page and Trending Now list as it intends taking out the trending page and trending now in the coming days in July. With this modification, YouTube is only showing the most popular content in particular categories on YouTube Charts, rather than providing a single comprehensive list of trending content.

Almost ten years after it was introduced in 2015, YouTube has declared that it will discontinue the Trending Page, which displays the most popular videos on the site. According to the corporation, as users have begun finding material from other sources across its platform, the number of visitors to the Trending Page has drastically decreased over the past five years. The business has also made it clear that going forward, YouTube Charts will allow users to locate the most watched videos in particular categories.

The platform claims that the upgrade better fits how people find trending material these days, pointing out that when the Trending page first started in 2015, it was much easier to compile a single list of viral videos that everyone was talking about.

Nearly a decade after its initial release in 2015, Google’s YouTube Help page has announced that it will be taking out both the Trending Page and its Trending Now list. However, the Trending Page will be shut down on July 21st, according to Google’s YouTube Trending Page Help Center.

In the coming weeks, the YouTube Trending Page and Trending Now list will be eliminated.

Due to a change in user behaviour, the company reports a notable decline in viewer visits to the Trending Page during the past five years. The blog post emphasized how individuals have begun to learn about trends from a variety of YouTube sources, including communities, comments, and shorter recommendations and search results.

YouTube also stated in the blog post that users will soon be able to search YouTube Charts for popular content in particular categories. It should be noted, though, that YouTube Charts is limited to YouTube music at this time. People can look through YouTube Charts for Trending Movie Trailers, Weekly Top Podcast Shows, and Trending Music Videos, according to the blog post. The company plans to eventually expand Charts’ content categories in the near future. YouTube will keep the most popular gaming videos on the Gaming Explore page.

Trending Movie Trailers, Weekly Top Podcast Shows, and Trending Music Videos are among the new category-specific charts. In the future, YouTube intends to expand its content categories.

In addition to YouTube Charts, the company will provide viewers with specialized video recommendations. According to the corporation, this would allow it to display a “wider range of popular content” that is appropriate for various people. Additionally, consumers can look for non-personalized material by visiting YouTube’s Explore Page, the channels of particular producers, and their subscription feed.

“We’ll continue to show viewers the videos that we think they’ll love through personalized recommendations, in addition to highlighting popular content in charts,” the firm wrote in a blog post. “In this manner, we can display a greater variety of well-liked and pertinent content, and it feels more organic to how viewers currently discover new videos.”

The YouTube Trending Page has been used by creators to advertise their channels and brag about the position of their most recent videos on other social media sites. Furthermore, they have used the Trending Page to stay ahead of current trends by producing content according to the most popular content. According to YouTube, the Inspiration tab in YouTube Studio will keep offering them customized suggestions.

YouTube recently revealed that it is revising its monetization guidelines in an effort to reduce fake and mass-produced videos. The streaming service is working to enhance its method of detecting repeated and fake videos in order to assess them and maybe lower the financial reward. On July 15, the new policy will go into force.

Through the Explore menu, creator channels, and their subscriptions feed, viewers can peruse non-personalized content.

YouTube claims that it is changing because there are more micro-trends than ever before as a result of the numerous videos produced by various fandoms that drive trends.

Additionally, YouTube observes that users are discovering trends in a variety of locations on the site, such as comments, search, and recommendations. People are now being fed information through tailored algorithmic suggestions instead of finding trending content to watch through the Trending tab. According to YouTube, these changes have resulted in fewer people visiting the Trending tab, particularly in the past five years.

Given how much the platform has changed in the last ten years, it makes logical for the business to adjust to changing viewing preferences. YouTube was mostly thought of as a venue for amateur videos back in 2015. Professional long-form (and short-form) material from independent producers and well-known media sites can be found there today, and they are all vying for a cut of the advertising money.

The business claims that its primary goal is still to provide producers with the means to ascertain what appeals to their audiences.

In the blog post, YouTube stated, “The Inspiration Tab in YouTube Studio will continue to give creators personalized ideas to help them spot the next big thing for their channel.” “We’re also developing new strategies to support and discover emerging creators, such as our ‘Hype’ feature, which allows users to amplify new videos they enjoy.”

Additionally, YouTube will promote Creators on the Rise on its official YouTube channel and social media accounts, @YouTube.

In the coming weeks, the modifications that were revealed on Thursday will become operative.
